GOOGLE UPDATES PAGE RANKING
Though late as compared to publishing ranking in September, Google has now started the page ranking updates process recently. There is usually a gap of 3 months or so in the updates of the PR ranking, but this time they have taken more time than expected. Google has released the Google Wave and now are busy in Google Caffeine too. The upgradation of Webmaster Tool is also under process undertaken by the Webmaster team.
Though page ranking does not interfere in your position in the results, but it definitely shows the social status and power of your site. The site with even the PR 5,6 or 7 has more back links and weightage than the others above it, where after the site publishes an article, it will jump to the first page of Google search despite of not having the back links.
